LAST NIGHT ALL I WANTED WAS TO TALK

Caterpillar and butterfly,
Or of mistress and wife-
Envy or fight,
Whatever it was,
Last night all I wanted was to talk.
Homophile and homophobe,
Or of electricity and bills-
Ignorance or source,
Whatever it was,
Last night all I wanted was to talk.
Democracy or nasty Tracy,
Or of Suez canal-Swiss bank,
Politics, romantics and economics,
Whatever it was,
Last night all I wanted was to talk.
Something about everything,
Or of wheels and barns,
Invention and jubilee,
Whatever it was,
Last night all I wanted was to talk.
Like the protagonist in Cast Away,
Or Armani in the closet-
Silencing could mean the end of my existence,
Last night all I wanted was to talk.
